Manage overtime
Overtime —also called premium time — is a span of worked time that causes a change in pay. The rules governing when and how you are paid overtime are defined by your company. For example, you might be paid overtime after working 8 hours in a day or after 40 hours in a week.
Activities related to these spans are flagged in the date cell or Date Actions glance (also known as a contextual callout) Provides information and actions in a dialog box for an item on the screen when the user right-clicks or taps the item. of your timecard:

If your manager has addressed your overtime, the Overtime Reviewed
- Right-click the day that contains the overtime indicator. The Date Actions glance opens, displaying the date and state of the overtime: Overtime [Pending]
. - Note: In a project timecard The type of timecard used by employees who charge time to projects instead of precise in and out times., if there is pending overtime and comments exist for an exception, then the Action Required
icon replaces the pending overtime and comment icons in the date cell. - Click Review Overtime
. The Review Overtime panel opens and shows denied and approved overtime. - Click OK to return to the main timecard.

If you have access, you may be able to approve your own overtime.
The way that you approve overtime differs depending on whether you are using the table view or the list view.

- Right-click the day that contains the overtime indicator. The Date Actions glance opens, displaying the date and state of the overtime: Overtime [Pending]
- Note: In a project timecard, if there are comments for an exception and for pending overtime, then the date cell contains the Action Required
- Click Tap Approve Overtime

- Overtime Date — The date of the overtime request appears. You cannot change the date
- Pending Overtime
- Time Spans — The overtime spans in "From" and "To" format, for example, From 6:30 AM To 8:00 AM. Opposite each time span is an Approve check box.
- Comments — Enables you to add comments and notes.
Note: If necessary, you can change the times within each time span, but you cannot increase the spans. - From here you can approve or deny all or part of each time spans:
- To approve the overtime, select the Approve check box next to the applicable time span.
- To deny the overtime, clear the Approve check box next to the applicable time span.
- To approve or deny part of a time span, change the "From" or "To" entries and then select or clear the Approve check box. You cannot increase the timespans.
- To add a comment click tap Add Comment. and do the following:
- If necessary, enter a note.
- Click Add. To add more notes, click Add Another Note and enter the note.
- When finished, click tap Apply. To cancel all edits and return the overtime to the Pending state, click Reset.
The timecard is updated as follows:
- The Overtime indicator in the Date cell changes and turns green
- The Comments
- Approval and denial actions are recorded in the Totals add-on.

- Click Tap a day with the warning indicator
- In the panel, click tap More

- Overtime Date — The date of the overtime request appears. You cannot change the date

- Comments — Click Tap Add a comment.
