Delegating authority to another manager
When a manager expects to be unavailable, the manager (delegator) can delegate authority to another manager (the delegate) to access and receive his or her notifications and complete tasks during the absence. For example, the delegate can approve time-off requests Request subtypes that employees use to request time off for vacation, illness or recovery, appointments, personal time, or other absences. Time-off requests can be configured to support many different employment scenarios. while the regular manager is on vacation.
Note: Edits made in the timecard by a delegatee appear in the timecard audit under their name rather than the manager they are acting on behalf of.
To delegate authority to another manager, the delegator must:
- Click Tap Home
. - Click Tap the My Notifications tile A container that provides navigation or action from its summary view..
- In Control Center, click tap My Actions
. Select Business Processes An organized flow of activities or tasks that achieves a business goal. An automated business process minimizes the amount of paperwork and manual tasks to complete that process by way of automatic actions, online forms, and automatically generated messages. > Manager Delegation or Admin Delegation. - In the Delegation panel, select the person who will take authority during your absence.
- Select the Start Date and End Date from the calendars
. The dates are in the time zone of the delegator. - Select the Role Profile created for the delegator. See Configure a Role Profile for more information.
- Click Tap Submit.
You can cancel a delegation before the delegatee accepts it.
- Click Tap My Notifications and click tap Tasks.
- Select the delegation process.
- Click Tap Cancel Delegation.
When the delegatee logs in to the system, they can do the following:
- From the My Notifications tile on the desktop, select Tasks to open the Tasks workspace.
- Select the Delegate task. The applicable information is listed in the Details column.
- Select Accept or Reject and optionally enter a comment.
- Click Tap Submit.
- Log out and log back in again.
- At the top of the Main Menu
, expand the Employee Settings Menu - Expand Switch Roles. There are two options: My Roles and Delegated Roles. To switch roles with the delegator, double-click the delegator's name and delegation dates.
- The desktop refreshes and the My Profiles tile lists the delegator's information, for example, under the delegatee's name, it displays "Acting As DelegatorName:
When the delegatee wants to return to the original role, repeat steps 5 through 7.
You can stop your delegation of authority.

In Control Center, click tap My Actions
. Select Business Processes > Manager Delegation or Admin Delegation. - Select Delete Existing Delegation.
- Select the delegation process to stop.
- Click Tap Submit.
